The stench of death fills the air,
Amidst the smoke and rubble of battered streets;
Homes destroyed and children orphaned,
Is this bloody mess, a Holy victory?
Hearts of hate seeking revenge,
With Death’s dark eyes bringing vengeance;
Executing horrors on the innocent and guilty,
Faces taut and emotionless, without remorse.
Arab against Jew!
Muslim against Hindu!
Protestant against Catholic!
To name just a few,
Of the Holy Wars that smear the horizon,
Of a world that longs for peace and liberation.
Has history not taught us?
Do our hearts not see clearly?
What God would ever sanction such a conviction of hatred?
