Everyday millions of hungry faces cry,
Everyday thousands around our planet die,
Everyday somewhere there’s war and strife,
Everyday someone takes another’s life,
Everyday all over this world babies with AIDS are born,
Everyday a teenager runs away from home to live on their own
Everyday the poor, unwanted make the streets their home
Everyday they weep who are forgotten and forlorn;
Everyday a family is broken by infidelities knife,
Everyday someone loses hope and ends their life,

These are but a few of this planet’s woes,
For we live in a world that is in its death throes,
So, we who are blessed, let us not turn a blind eye,
Seeking our own pleasures without asking why,
So many on this planet suffer and die,
Our conscience carefully ensconced with a Christian face,
That denies the existence of this world’s fate.

Rather let us resolve as each New Year dawns,
When at that midnight hour, this planet once again warns,
Of the spiritual death that is at the root of its’ suffering,
To take heed and reach out without wavering,
Sharing the good news of God’s saving grace,
That can infuse love into hatred’s face,
That can enlarge the conscience so wealth is shared,
With those who are needy, even those who should not be spared,
For God so loved the world that He gave His only son,
That all who believe in Him will let His will be done.

Luke 10:2 (ESV): And Jesus said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

Recently, I met a delightful, young lady, Jessica Haugseng,  who has a heart that wants to make a difference in this world .  She is overcoming her fears and bravely joining others to help homeless youth who live on the streets of Toronto through Light Patrol – a mobile home based outreach.  I hope as you read this post, you will join me in supporting her not only financially but through your words of encouragement.  Please take a minute to learn more about Jessica and Light Patrol Ministry.  With my thanks, Elizabeth.
