Burdens of Living

“Burdens Of Life”

She sits among us and when she smiles,
If you look very closely, you’ll see tears in her eyes,
She’s a single Mother who has three children,
Who’s working two jobs to bring home the “bacon”,
And as she tries very hard to meet all their needs,
Would someone notice and bless her with some kindly deeds?

He sits among us with a timid eye,
If you look very closely, you’ll know he is shy,
He’s a single Man who seems happy with his life,
Who’s lonely for a loving companion who will be his wife,
And as he struggles to be joyful and content,
Would someone notice and bless him with a loving comment?

She sits among us, all smiles and talk,
If you look very closely, you’ll see her sad walk,
She’s a Woman who lives in a marriage of duty and obligation,
With bittersweet memories of young love’s consummation,
And as she struggles to overcome the lack of his passion,
Would someone notice and bless her with some gentle compassion?

He sits among us with hidden expression,
If you look very closely, you’ll see his depression,
He’s a young Man who holds a secret too painful to share,
Who’s struggling with childhood abuse that’s hard to bear;
And as he tries to heal himself and surrender his pain,
Would someone notice and bless him with freedom from shame?

She sits among us with smiling eyes,
If you listen very closely, you’ll hear her deep sighs,
She’s a retired Senior who lives all alone,
Who’s tired and weary with aching bones;
And as she faithfully walks to church every Sunday,
Would someone notice and bless her with a ride one day?
