Forever Kind Of Love

Heavenly Love On An Earthly Plane

Ever felt alone and unloved?  I would dare state that many people at some point in their lives have experienced this state of being.  Romantic love is wonderful but usually doesn’t last forever.  Human love can and does change to various degrees over a life time.  Is there a love that never changes? Is there a love that can embrace us forever?

The idea of heavenly love on an earthly plane seems mystical and too far out of reach to our human experience.  In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he writes:

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How can the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord move from an idea to a reality in our life?  I am referring to the kind of love that is always present whether one is going  through a very difficult physical or emotional situation or living in the happiest time of your life.   There is further insight as we read the psalmist:

My Refuge and My Fortress - Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."...
"Because he holds fast to me in love,
I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

The first requirement is that we dwell with the Most High (God Almighty). To dwell with someone signifies a relationship of trust with that person. The second requirement is to hold fast to God in love. Once again, “to hold fast in love” signifies a deep relationship based on love and trust and your personal knowledge of that person.

God has revealed himself in His word, through Jesus Christ, creation and revelation.  Seeking religions or mystical experiences will not bring you this deep, forever kind of love that nothing can separate you from.  Trying to live a righteous and perfect life will not do it either.  Only an honest,  personal relationship with the one who embodies love – Jesus Christ – can embrace you in the shadow of the Almighty forever and in every situation.

Seek and you will find, ask and you will receive.  The journey begins by opening the door of your heart.  If you need this kind of love in your life, I truly hope you begin the journey!
